[P.S. This is independent of the choice provided in Chapter Q, haven’t checked it out yet. Do it now.]

Gokul Das’s home was an unremarkable old 2 story house somewhere in the ancient busy street of Varanasi. The front facing wall of the house was about 8 feet high, covered in cracking yellow pain, molasses and some vines. The solitary barely blue painted 2 panel door right in center of the wall opened into a small patio. The patio itself was quite large, almost 12×12 feet, on one side (to the right of the door) was most of the house, on the opposite side was the bathroom and the cleaning area. The side opposite the door was closed off with another 8 foot high wall which it shared with another house. In fact Gokul Das’s home was surrounded by houses on all 3 sides except for the small street that led to it. Continue reading

Chandra typed feverishly into his laptop. His last mail to his superiors at RAW had been drafted, adequately encrypted and was now fit for sending. The travel that he had done for the past few days had tired him immensely, he wasn’t made for such strain, he was made to sit in front of a computer and analyze data. That’s what he was good at. Perhaps that’s the reason he was sent on this investigation in the first place. He massaged the bridge of his nose, lifting his spectacles up a bit.

“Mr. Bhooshan, I am Agasthya, special agent National Intelligence Agency. This is the first time I am calling you.”

“Don’t mess me with me. I have a blood pressure problem. I might have a heart attack soon. I have been talking and listening to every word you have told me for the past half an hour.”, Bhooshan shouted into the cellphone. He was right, his heart was almost beating out of his chest.

“Hello Mr. Bhooshan. I want you to listen to me very carefully.”

Bhooshan definitely did not expect to hear those words when he picked up the phone. He was wrapping up from his latest lecture, his laptop and bag all closed, his blazer on his arm and his spectacles in his breast pocket. All the students had left and he was alone in the conclave lecture hall.

“Who is this?”, Bhooshan spoke strictly. It was not the first time a student was playing a prank on him.

“Mr. Bhooshan Rastogi, Believe me when I say that, I am not one of your students. Your life is in grave danger. As stupid as it may sound my instructions may be the only thing which could save you.”, the voice was stern and confident this time. This was definitely no student.

Agasthya was feeling the heat and it wasn’t just the Bangalore weather. The first news that his team had got as soon as they had landed at the KIAB International Airport was that Akash Sharma had been found dead in his car. Kabir was baffled, ever since that fateful night the killer has been one step ahead of them at every single turn. Chandra was sure this was the job of a terrorists organization, as only they had the resources to pull of such meticulous kills. Agasthya was not so sure.

Akash adjusted his tie until it was dead center and looked in perfect shape. He smiled at himself in the mirror. 30 years, and he still looked the part. He always believed that keeping fit should be as important as keeping rich. He sure was fit, and soon he was going to be rich too, or to be more accurate richer.
